NobbyPlus 12+ · Late Transfer Exam Prep
Your next chance at a grammar school place
Missed your 11+ by a whisker? The 12+ late-transfer exam is a real, respected way back in — and it's what we built this for.
What is the 12+ exam?
The 12+ is a late-transfer exam sat in Year 7, giving students who narrowly missed their 11+ cutoff another shot at a grammar school place in Year 8. Unlike the 11+, there's no single national syllabus — every grammar authority sets its own paper — but the subjects tested are the same families as 11+: Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, Maths and English, extended about a year further.
It's a genuine second chance, not a consolation prize — schools run it precisely because a single exam on a single day doesn't always capture what a child can do.
What's covered
Verbal Reasoning
The same skill family as 11+, extended with harder vocabulary and logic types.
Non-Verbal Reasoning
Pattern and sequence work carried through from 11+, pushed a year further.
Maths
Reaches into early Key Stage 3 — algebra and geometry beyond what 11+ alone covers.
English
Extended comprehension and longer, more demanding writing tasks.
Every 11+ question is still in your practice pool
Most 12+ prep assumes the fundamentals are solid and jumps straight to harder material. NobbyPlus 12+ doesn't — it automatically blends new, 12+-level questions with the full existing 11+ question bank, so you can rebuild confidence on the basics at the same time as stretching into what's new. One programme, not two products to buy.
